The way a dealer taxes your new car is changing. Until now, Vehicle Excise Duty - or road tax - must have been paid and the disc displayed in the windscreen before your new car could be driven away. From today, however, your tax disc can be sent to a chosen address within 14 calendar days of purchase. This means that newly-registered vehicles can be used on the road without the need to display anything for the allocated period. Just make sure to keep an eye out for it in the post!
