There is nothing to be very proud of in the data. India has some serious questions to answer about. No iota of doubt about it. Particularly those who go euphoric about Indian family values and system, have some serious problem from the data. However India is not the worst. It does not make it to the top 10 countries which are the worst place for a woman to be in conflict situation. Both Sri Lanka and Burma have brought them into the list. There is a strong correlation between colonial impoverishment and violence against women in the society. Of course correlation does not suggest causation. But...
