There was a movie (probably more than one, but one that I remember) where two guys tried to rob a bar. The bar was a cop bar (failure to do proper recce). When the guys started their robbery suddenly every hand in the place was each pointing a gun at them. With widespread RKBA every public place could be that cop bar. Since good people vastly outnumber bad people even if one or two of those people were disposed to harm others they wouldnt dare because every other hand would be turned against them and fully capable of stopping them. Right now the bad guys can overcome the disparity of numbers because they can have disparity of force (theyre armed; their victims are not). This would not, of course, stop the cases where the bad guys catch someone alone, away from others, but even there the odds would be a lot closer to even. Oh, I found the movie I was thinking of.
