Theres been lots of debate about the latest trend on here about taking a picture of yourself with no make up on to raise awareness of Cancer. Im told this will get people talking about it and ultimately donating to Cancer Research. I have no problem with however you want to fill your facebook wall but have no intention of doing it even though Im in a high risk group and have lost five close relatives to the disease. Much of the money goes directly into animal research which has shown very little progress for the amount of animals tortured and I think people should be made aware of that. The Dr Hadwen Trust drhadwentrust.org/ is doing ethical non-animal based research and they along with McMillan nurses or hospice care are the only cancer charities I give to and support. I am very aware of cancer and have huge sympathy for anyone battling with it and I dont want to hurt your feelings but please dont tell me Im not compassionate for not joining in a silly campaign. Perhaps when youve had to turn the life support off on your own mother then youll understand that a selfie is unlikely to make me any more aware of cancer than I already am.
