Theres recently been a swirl of activity in the bellydance sphere surrounding a certain article published by Salon. We love the enormous amount of introspective and ultimately gentle discussion thats been going on in our community, thank you everyone for being willing to explore some hard topics while keeping the beauty and integrity thats at the heart of all forms of this beloved, multifaceted dance! Education and discussion of the origins, lineage and integrity of our modern bellydance forms has always been extremely important to the JamBallah NW festival, and this year we have a ton of opportunities to further explore and discuss the branching paths that built the modern American bellydance scenes.
