These are the grave markers of men who were in service and died from either illness or accidents in Canada and are buried in LaSalle Roman Catholic Cemetery in Sudbury, Ontario. One is the grave of Ordinary Seaman Anthony Smrke who died when H.M.C.S. Shawinigan was torpedoed by a U-boat in the Cabot Strait on Nov. 24, 1944 ... his was one of only six bodies that were recovered. The pictures were taken by Jennifer K ... a Find a Grave contributor who was kind enough to visit the cemetery to take them.
