They always said the maids, janitors, and other invisible black workers often times would help move the Civil Rights movement forward. They had access to valuable information as they worked around the powers that be. They watched and read documents in front of them. I encountered a (janitor/ minister) that worked at the Mobile Country Personnel Board as I was the 1st Black Personnel Analyst at the Personnel Department. To the other employees he was invisible and he fit the old stereotype of a shucking and jiving Negro janitor.
