Think the God of the Bible is mean? A youth assumes that his father is being mean when he gives him instruction. But when the youth gets older he realizes that his father loved him very much to guide him with wise counsel and discipline. This is the love of a father. Love that is more concerned with raising his child up correctly than accommodating his whims. The child needs a dad more than a mere buddy. God, our Father, is a good father. Because of His love, He guides and corrects us. Humans crave discipline and despise it simultaneously. Just like children, they hate rules but thrive when they are present and enforced. When this realization is apparent, the soul is drawn towards the perfection of our Heavenly Father. Do you recognize the craving for order and discipline? Like a child craves structure, the soul craves the discipline and guidance of God, the good father.
