Think you missed your chance to nominate a dedicated volunteer, organization or business for the 2014 Governors Service Awards? Good news, the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) has extended the nomination deadline! Initially scheduled to close on February 28th, the Governors Service Awards nomination period has been extended for two additional weeks. Nominations must now be postmarked or electronically submitted by Wednesday, March 12, 2014. As a reminder, five finalists in each category, including the winner, will be recognized at the Governors Service Awards celebration to be held on June 30, 2014, in Detroit. The Governors Service Awards are coordinated by the MCSC, the states lead agency on service and volunteerism. The 2014 Governors Service Awards nomination form is available for download on the MCSCs website at michigan.gov/volunteer. A hard copy of the nomination form is also available and can be obtained by contacting the MCSC at (517) 335-4295. Nominations for the Governors Service Awards must be postmarked by the extended deadline of Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The MCSC will also be accepting electronic nominations at [email protected]. Electronic materials should be submitted by the March 12 deadline and should be formatted as PDF files, with the exception of photos which should be in JPEG format.
