This Easter gift: A few weeks ago, a Vet who spent 20 years in jail and some time homeless, pleaded with me to help him find a job with the City of Houston. I tried. I failed. He wasnt afraid to let me know how desperate he felt. He needed to support himself and his son. He was at the end of his rope. Timing is everything. A few days later, a Veterans homeless shelter was looking for a new outreach specialist. All I did was send one email to help make this connection. They hired him. It took me one minute to send the message. Today I met Gregory. He shook my hand over and over and over. We were both on the verge of tears. I gave him my card and told him to call if he ever needed anything. He took out a box and cut through the taped edge, giving me the very first card of his very new job. Its posted up on my wall, so I can remember. I am so grateful for my job. I get to do simple things for people like Gregory. Life is beautiful.
