This Saturday, its Peter Capaldi versus the Daleks, and weve got an extended look at whats in store. Rumor has it that the BBC didnt want to bring the classic Who villains back this season, after getting plenty of mileage out of them last year in the Time War-centric 50th-anniversary special Day of the Doctor and the 2013 Christmas special Time of the Doctor. Capaldis been a fan of the legendary pepperpots from Skaro since he was a kid, though, and reportedly lobbied producers to get an episode where hed face them. This week, in his second Who story, he gets his wish with Into the Dalek. Heres the official BBC synopsis for the episode: A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now… with the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side. Confronted with a decision that could change the Daleks forever he is forced to examine his conscience. Will he find the answer to the question, am I a good man? Those who watched Capaldis premiere episode, Deep Breath, last Saturday saw a brief trailer for Into the Dalek at the end, and a few weeks ago an interview with Capaldi also featured a couple of very brief snippets of footage from the episode. Now those snippets of footage have turned into extended clips, and while theyre still brief, they give us a closer look at the themes the episode will explore. The first clip includes a bit of footage thats been going around ever since the first trailer for the series arrived: Sitting beside Clara in the TARDIS, the Doctor asks her if hes a good man. The second clip is more plot-centric, and features a Dalek thats malfunctioned in a very interesting way. It also reveals that Capaldis Doctor still isnt very concerned with remembering names during a nice little comedic walk-and-talk scene.
