Next, THE WHISPERER, #11 from NBC on Sept 16, 1951 “Never the Twain”. The Syndicate is starting to wonder why so many of the plans filtered through Galt end in failure. Today, they order the the kidnapping of Patricia Folsom. Created by Stetson Humphrey, starring Carleton Young, with Betty Moran, Paul Frees, Edith Tackna, Harry Gardino, and Larry Dobkin. We close the show with a full hour of THE LUX RADIO THEATER (AFRS title HOLLYWOOD RADIO THEATER) from October 26, 1953 “Skirts Ahoy”, an adaptation of a movie musical with no music. Three women join the waves. Starring Esther Williams (who died this week at the age of 91) as Whitney Young, GeGe Pearson as Yancy, Barbara Fuller as Mary Kate, Barry Sullivan as the love interest, Virginia Gregg as Lt Commander Stauton, Irving Cummings (host), and Ken Carpenter (announcer), Earl Lee as the Plumber, with Rusty Morris, Tom Brown, Herb Butterfield, William Johnstone, Robert Griffin, Yvonne Peattie, Tony Barrett, Julie Bennett, and Edward Marr. A reminder, the show starts a half-hour late at 7:30 pm on Sunday night on WBAI More Esther Williams will be heard.
