This Sunday at the ArtExchange we will be screening Living with Pride - Ruth Ellis. Ruth Ellis, a 100-year-old African American lesbian, recounts her life. "Ruth is a gift to us" as she is able to tell what it was like to suffer "triple oppression, being a woman, being black, and being a lesbian." The schedule for the evening is: • 5:00 – Mix & Mingling • 6:00 – Movie starts. • Afterwards – Post-movie discussion Sistah Sinema is a monthly event showcasing Queer Women of Color Cinema. It was created to showcase the nuances of Queer Women of Color culture. The movies serve as a vehicle to foster honest dialogue on struggles and opportunities unique to Queer Women of Color. While discussion will focus on Queer Women of Color, all members of the community are invited to attend. They started in Seattle, WA in early 2011 and expanded to Cleveland, Portland, Atlanta, Greensboro, LONG BEACH and Kingston, Jamaica in 2012 and 2013.
