This article brings up a very important topic. Handouts create the mentality of dependency, and creates a cycle of expecting the gringos to come and save them. Poverty is a very relative term. Many would say that the indigenous communities are incredibly wealthy, and that the first worlders are dimensionally more impoverished than they are, and there is a lot of truth to that! True wealth is not money, it is family, community, friends, land, pure water, culture, history, health, happiness, love, self esteem, thriving children, respected elders, creative expression, and a way to share our gifts with the world. What they really need is just a little bit of inspiration, ingenuity and cashflow focused in the right way, to create truly sustainable upliftment within the communities in regard to bringing back increased seed and food varieties, health, natural medicine, water purification, sanitation, and self esteem, along with quality education that honors the full spectrum of their own amazing Indigenous Andean Culture, which is being rapidly lost right now. Creating sustainable wealth through cottage industries and local tourism that taps into the many millions of dollars that come through the Sacred Valley every year that our indigenous friends dont normally ever touch. This way they can realize their own inherent abundance, and sustain and thrive on all levels within their own communities. This is real empowerment, and truly how we can help the Indigenous People of Peru. peruthisweek/travel-travelers-guide-to-responsible-gift-giving-in-peru-104310?fb_action_ids=294926437360757&fb_action_types=ogments
