This bridge collapsed during its demolition. The tragic irony is that the demolition is due to the regions choice to improve the ramp safety with current federal dimensions. Still, agencies throughout the country are faced with obsolete and failing infrastructure due to diminished Highway Trust Fund revenues. While Sen. Hatch and other senators have expressed openness to increased gas-tax revenues, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, apparently has expressed adamant opposition. Perhaps Ryan wants Saudi Arabia and other oil producers to regain their profits after they stop flooding the market? I dont care if he opposes increasing the fuel tax; I want to know what he proposes to solve the funding problem.
