This doesnt just apply to youth leagues. I hear from college coaches who make the same complaints about the way high school kids are being coached. 6-2 bigs who cant put the ball in the floor and attack because theyre only allowed to play weak side, guards who cant defend man because theyve always played in a zone or help system, kids who cant shoot off the dribble because theyre taught to spot up in the corner and shoot 3s. Its no wonder that the valley has only had a handful of D1 prospects in the last 8-10 years. Sad when you consider the caliber of athlete weve had here over the same period of time.
