This episode of The Newsroom was amazing and heart-breaking all at the same time. The Sloan interview was knock-your-socks-off good, the Don thing was great, and I love that Jim and Maggie ended up together. Im surprised that Aaron Sorkin didnt point out that it was a full-circle moment for Maggie because the PA who screws up their tickets says, did you know there are two Havanas, which is sort of what Maggie says to Jim about Georgia in season 1... Wow... Im really well-versed in this show. Ugh, and the thing with Will and his dad! At first, I thought his cellmate was an undercover CIA agent, trying to get the name of the source because he knew about Wills mission to civilize but Aaron Sorkins version was so much better. And then Charlie dying... Ugh! I love the symbolism but hate it because he was absolutely my favorite character. So Im convinced that Ive figured out the last major shocker of the series. Theres one episode left where Will gives Charlies eulogy, and somewhere in the episode, probably in a conversation between Will and MacKenzie, Will is going to reveal that he never knew the name of the source--he went to jail to prove a point (Its what I would do, if I were writing it), a point about journalism and ethics in the new millennium--Im not sure exactly what that point is going to be, but Im sure Aaron Sorkin will tell me, and Ill be astounded. I cant wait.
