This has been one long day in the Davis household... to say the least. Witnessing my husband try to fight for his kids has been tough for someone who lives behind the scenes of the sacrifices and work behind a football program. As many have already seen, Dudley has been knocked out of the playoffs because of a violation. The media pretty much got most of the facts right however it needs to be noted that our boyz season was stolen from them because of something that happened in the last 38 seconds of a 50-21 game against SE. Whether people believe we needed to cheat in a game already won or simply believe it was a mistake, it was a violation and we have to pay those consequences unfortunately. We have been comforted however by the nonstop buzzing of his phone from coaches across the state in support. Theyve all expressed my actual thoughts......Does the punishment fit the crime? And if JV players who are moved up to varsity shouldnt be on the sidelines until the following week--official playoff week,.....how many schools were also in violation this past week? Ill tell you one.....that would be SE-- the very school that started this snowball. So yes....SE you stole the Conference Championship on a technicality and I hope that somehow this is going to help your coach sleep better at night. Just know that you werent taking a victory from my husband (who is easy to hate with his success....I get it), you took it from those kids including your very own squad who will go down in history with a trophy that they didnt earn. Is it fair? As my dad said....Life Aint Fair. Nonetheless, the official announcement will be made in the morning but I need my Panthers to understand....that they are still #1. Keep your heads up fellas. Congratulations to our seniors that have broken history! You all wear your 2013 rings proudly and continue to carry our name in the community with pride.
