This is Hannah, our ten year old daughter (Double Above the Knee Amputee). This video was taken before she was told she can no longer ride the slides as she does not reach the 48 height requirement. Understand, with her prosthetics on she is 52. The pool said if we could get the manufacture to allow it, they would, but could not without their approval. I just got off the phone with the manufacturer. He gave me the liability speech. He is supposed to talk to the pool tomorrow and see if they can come up with something, but made no guarantees. I tried to be as diplomatic as possible on it, but informed him that to my knowledge there was a flip side to this coin and that was the accessibility issue. I told him that my understanding was unless they could prove that her riding was an unacceptable risk beyond that of others riding I would think they would have to make an exception. I may have played the ADA card prematurely, because his whole demeanor changed at that and the conversation was pretty much over. My questions to others that might have been down this road, 1) Did I make a valid point and 2) Do you have any advice that might be of help?
