This is Sarcoma Awareness month, and below is info about the treatment of Ewings Sarcoma. I find that the parts about radiation and surgery did not really apply to Julianna. Her disease was widely metastasized at diagnosis (only 5 weeks after she initially mentioned pain in her hip). It was even difficult to determine the location of a main tumor. We were told that chemotherapy was her only option because of extensive disease in her pelvic bone and her bone marrow. You can target radiation to one part of the body, not many. She had many small tumors, not any larger main tumor.
