This is a list of things I share with people who have posted on Facebook or on craigslist. If it helps to get one dog found, then it is worth posting... Please share if you think it will help someone you know, this could save their dog too. I try to share with everyone I see who lost their dog, we need to get the word out because a lot of people dont know what to do, or know there are other resources out there. If you have a Facebook page there is a page called Friends of Arizona shelter animals (FASA) they post pictures of dogs that are on the euthanasia list every day, at the east and west pounds... Recommendations when youve lost your furbaby! =========================================================== Post on Face book pages Straydar and Lost dogs of Arizona Lost Dogs Arizona Arizona Animal Rescue Alliance Post ads on Craigslist in the Community section under Pets and also under Lost and found. Please check craigslist and other classified ads to see if someone has an ad to Sell your dog as well. Make tons of fliers with their picture on it. Make sure you put REWARD on flyers, but Do Not put an amount. Use bright colored duct tape to hang them, so it draws attention to people passing. (Like red, hot pink, etc.) People will more than likely respond saying they either have your pet or they know where he or she is at if they think theyre going to get a reward. Even if once you meet up with them, you can only give $20. Post your pet on petharbor and pets911 Post fliers everywhere in the neighborhood. If you can go door to door that helps a lot also. Hand them out to anyone you see walking, riding a bike or jogging. Larger dogs can travel so after you post flyers in your immediate area, move out about a mile or two radius and post flyers on major intersections. Also hand out flyers to vet offices around your neighborhood also to police department and fire departments. Police and fire are driving around in your neighborhood all the time, so they can keep a lookout. Talk to your mailman, they are driving slow through the neighborhood every day. Give them a flyer with your number so they can call you if they see your dog. I know this seems like a lot of work but it will pay back in finding them quicker. Also check the pounds every day and if not every day, every other day. Strays are only held for 3 days after that they get evaluated if they can be put up for adoption or if they will be euthanized. So checking there often definitely needs to be done. There are 2 locations East and West, I would check both!! Humane society only will keep a stray if it needs medical care, otherwise they call county to pick them up. I would check the Humane society just in case your pet was injured while they were on the street. Petharbor normally has pictures of all dogs that are taken in the county daily. But do not rely on that solely because some dogs either never got a picture taken or they could have been overlooked. Leave food and water bowls out around the area they went missing along with articles of clothing so they can smell your scent. If they find them, it will entice them to stay in that area.
