This is a permanent lease.. She has actually purchased the flat...The owner could sell the flat if she wants... Guys, Please read the pagdi system and than comment... Why do you think the builder was offering her 1 crore?? Charity?? The flat is still in her name....its not a rent agreement or a tenant/landlord thing that you see across india...its a sale deed which says that she is the owner.. and all those who are commenting that they peanuts rent and want landlord to take care of the property.... I dont know any pagdi system building which do not want to move to ownership model but the landlord ensures this never happens.. Reason...you dont maintain the building,some people will leave... in Pagdi system for every sale that happens, landlord is paid 33% of the transaction value.. More the resale... more the landlord makes money...This way landlord makes money.. Secondly he is still the owner of the land.. if the building falls or gets demolished, he can do watever he wants to do with that land.. nowadays all these landlord are selling this to builder and minting money... If you think that this lady is staying in this house by just paying Rs 50 when she first got this flat.., than you are wrong... She would have paid the real market price when she would have bought this flat somewhere in the seventies.. its just that society ownership was not prevalent at that time and most of the old building were pagdi system.
