This is absolutely fascinating! The first set of pics are before and after pics of an urgent case blocked artery fixed with a stent placement, by my friend and mentor Dr. Joel Kahn. The second set of pics are before and after pics of a blocked artery in a patient who was then treated for three years with dietary/nutritional therapy alone, by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. Look closely at the bottom portion of the main artery. It looks good as new, and just as fixed as the stent pic, yet NO STENT! If at all possible, you DO NOT want a stent.....ever. While they open up the blockage initially, they frequently re-stenose (block back up again) if significant changes in risk factors are not made. They have also been shown not to extend life in the long run when compared to standard drug therapy. They also significantly harm endothelial function in the areas above and below the stent placement, significantly worsening risk for plaque formation in those areas. Worst of all, they carry the possibility of death during the procedure itself. The work I do with patients and long distance clients can help: 1- Catch things early and keep you from ever getting to the point where you need to decide between these two options. 2- Help improve your situation naturally (like in the second set of pics) if you decide you do not want or cannot get a stent when told you need one.
