This is an important weather message from Alamance-Burlington Schools. Due to the winter weather advisory forecast and possibility of icy conditions tomorrow morning, ABSS will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow (1-14) with an option to close if necessary. If the option to close is needed, an announcement will be made tomorrow morning. With the forecast at hand, and its uncertainties, a delay with the option to close appears to be the most valid decision at this time. The forecast details indicate a situation where roads may become challenging but with the uncertainties of the amount of moisture determine the impact. A delay allows additional time to make a decision concerning road conditions A delay allows an opportunity for DOT to be active in areas of concern. A delay allows for the drivers to drive in the daylight. The notification of the option to close lets our families know that we may have to change the decision based on the impact of the weather condition.
