This is exactly why I dot want to live on this planet anymore! Im not sure whats worse - that some over protective mother thinks that she is trying to avoid a child being Disfigured for the rest of their life by putting up a sign on a slide, That she is trying to ruin other kids childhood by advocating for the slide to be removed because it gets too hot, or the fact that the North Shore Times thinks its worthy of a 1/4 page article on page 4. Yes - the Stainless steal (sometimes just tin) slides & rusty swings that the people of this country grew up on were bloody hot at times - probably way hotter than this green plastic version. But I never heard of anyone being disfigured, or even badly burnt. Playground usage as a child came with some strict rules and warnings (From parents - not signs) along the lines of. Careful, It might be hot! - or - if youre going to climb the big tree, Dont come crying to me when you fall & hurt yourself. Get a grip people - How about teaching kids to work out what is dangerous, and find the consequence of pushing the limits too far!
