This is going to be my last post on Facebook. This post is to let folks know how they can reach me in the future, and where they can continue to read whatever content Im sharing online ... Ive already explained a few months ago why I would be leaving Facebook, and I wont repeat it all here. Heres a brief summary, though, for those who didnt happen to read it last time: (1) Facebook is controlled by a giant corporation that exists simply to gather as much information about you as possible, and then sell it for profit. It is censored and filtered - i.e. you cant post what you want, information is hidden from you, and your posts are hidden from others. There are plenty of platforms out there that will enable you to post content that is uncensored, and give you full control over who does and doesnt have access to your data. (2) Facebook acts a massive surveillance system for the NSA, FBI and friends. Intelligence agencies use both public and private Facebook data to compile extremely detailed personal profiles of users, map out their social networks, and intercept their private messages, so that they can use this information to systematically and surgically disrupt/destroy oppositional social movements. There are plenty of other platforms that enable you to share information and communicate more securely/privately with friends, and do not deliberately hand your private data over to the feds. (3) Facebook is an extremely limited publishing platform that wont even let you do the most basic things like hyperlinking, indenting, embedding images, or formatting text in your posts. There are plenty of platforms out there that will let you publish a much richer variety of content, in whatever format you want. There are much more effective ways of sharing (richer) information with large numbers of people, and Facebook offers absolutely nothing that cant be done better in another way with free, open source software. So with that said, from now on I will be using my website (interference.cc) as my primary means of disseminating information. I will regularly update my website with the same type of news/information I have shared here on Facebook ... except that now, I will be able to post many of the things that Facebook has censored in the past, and will be able to include much more information (charts, links, embedded videos, etc) ... so it will be even better! If you want to live chat with me (as you would in Facebook private messages) you can use any standard XMPP chat client (Id recommend Pidgin) to contact me -- my XMPP user ID for is [email protected] ... If you would like to use OTR (encrypted) XMPP chat then email me, and we can set that up. If you would like to do a voice/video call then you can contact me using the free, open-source VOIP program Tox (its like Skype, except that its not deliberately letting the NSA listen in to your calls). My Tox ID (for now) is A259EF5815A75478D2E5084CAA5A89657A8EA4ABDB797C88D879DD4E9B1EA7462BFA617AFF73 ... but this will likely change in the future, and you should email me to verify!
