This is not time for politics. When I was campaigning, I had made it clear that I was going to set a community police unit in Kirinyaga to deal with the problem of insecurity decisively. This would have created jobs for the youth, enable the youth to get some of the money allocated for the county in return for securing our residents and investors. I had checked that policy with senior COPs and all we needed was an appropriate legal frame work through the county assembly to ensure no conflict with the national law under which the police fall. With between 10 and 20 community police officers in each sub-location and about 50 for a big town like Kerugoya, there was going to be no way criminals can escape within this county. It therefore pains me to see uncalled for attacks when I make criticism on the way security is managed in our county. Its really not a big deal to provide security. After all, its not a choice for leaders - they must make the county safe for residents and investors.
