This is not to tick anyone off. I am voicing my opinions on a situation. So Dawson received a detention during lunch for talking. According to him and several other he was choking on his food for several minutes. NO ONE helped him. When he was finally able to be done choking let out a relief. Dawson said he was not talking. He still received a detention. Also they shut the lights off on the kids to make them be quiet. Here is my response to an email to the teacher who gave him a detention. Also forwarded it to the principal. I am curious to know why the children are not allowed to talk. Its like telling them here is your lunch now shut up. This is the only time all day they can talk. Talking should be allowed to an extent. Maybe there should be a sound level meter in there and when it gets to a certain level then they are to have quiet time. If they are not quiet then the punishments begin. When I was a child lunch was great! It was a time to catch up, eat, and get rid of some extra energy so when it was time to go back to class I was ready to learn. I mean they are not robots. And I do not agree with the lights being shut off on them when they are at lunch. I think that is wrong. Bad things can happen with the lights off. With all the school violence that goes on around the country (shootings, stabbing, assaults) I believe this could put children in danger. Just because its Rossville School doesnt mean it will never happen here. Somer
