This is the TOP lion I have ever known in Kgalagadi or Kalahari Gemsbok Park in the early 1980s when he and his 2 brothers Haaslip and ? (I have forgotten) ruled the Kwang pride which in those days was a HUGE area from Bedinkt to Kasperdraai!!! We as the only guests in those days at Nossob Camp used to get woken up with their violent (No other word comes to mind) ROARS down the runway at camp to our tent at the fence..The ground trembled. Clem Haagner the late famous photographer and Potch farmer was sometimes sharing Nossob camp with us ..I didnt mind as he had permission to travel off road along tracks and spend nights out at hyena dens etc and he always took me ..This was when I was with him at that big tree in the middle of the River 200m from the road about 500m left of Nossob Gate going north ..Let me introduce you to Victor the Grand father and Great Grandfather of the kittens you now see running around that area ..He readily took to trees like he did here ..Clems pic I treasure and was posted on another forum ..I only have the slides here at home of him over the 5 year period he graced me with his presence ..He had aV Brand on his back top leg ..hence the name
