This is the afternoon report from Mayberry by the sea.....the tin roofs of Mayberry by the sea are hot today ...glowing silver in the hot afternoon sun....the crickets are buzzing like electricity in the trees along with dragonflies circling the yard and the newly cut grass looks like dry hay......the air feels like August today........Oh I am beginning to really dislike summer...so as I am looking out the back door at the whitish grey summer light.....I can see no value in getting out there in it.....SOooooo...Its official.......this is a stay indoors and paint all day in pajamas......watching matinees...... kind of day in the studio.....and just in time I hear the thunder of a looming storm in the distance.......looks like were are in for weather.........today I have good news and bad news.....here is the bad news.....My bike...The Shadow....got another flat tire today....they must have missed something before so I took it back to Mikes Bikes......good news.....he fixed the flat at no charge and adjusted my chain and back wheel....he was friendly and very professional......I told him I got this bike here years ago and have always loved it.....he looked at my chrome and asked me how I kept it looking so new.....I replied Naval Jelly rust remover.....I told him three days ago this bike was a rusted looking heap.....he muttered in amazement we shook hands and I cooly and calmly walked out the door....made a bee line back the studio and got into my work uniform.....todays bottoms are searsucker and feel so southern....I just finished putting on a layer on my large painting and I feel entitle to reward myself with peach pie and homemade(from the store) vanilla ice cream.....the rain is imminent and The Shadow needs to be put up.....the peach pie is in the oven.....and Robin Hood :Men In Tights is on TV.....a classic summer day and I am blissful inside watching the world outside.......Mayberry by the sea.....coastal living southern style
