This is the worst day of my few years in dog rescue. Firstly I - TopicsExpress

This is the worst day of my few years in dog rescue. Firstly I will talk about the important detail. Streunaparadise did deliver food to Ecosal, but from now on they have made the decision that they will not be doing this any longer. They will still be taking donations I guess for food for these dogs but they wont be sending any. They have told me that if Ecosal want to pick up the ten tone of food they have for them in Austria they can go and get it from Austria. As we are talking about a poor country this is not possible and I guess it will cost more for the truck than for the food. So the situation is this and this is heartbreaking... The dogs will starve to death. Even our appeals on here cant be sustained. By raising money for Ecosal we are taking money from our dogs who we already get out and depend on us for vet care, food, shelter etc. however currently we have no option. We have been trying to get as many dogs as we can out for maybe eight months and the number rescued are around 150. Thats a drop in the ocean as there are 1200 in there. We dont have the answer. Not only are the odds already against them being in there subjected to harsh conditions, but its now snowing heavily, dogs have already been attacking each other through hunger, but now its starvation. We have raised enough for maybe four days. Theres no way we can keep on raising that, although we will try. We will never let these dogs down. I cant even tell you in words what they mean to us. I met them and I love them and it kills me to see them deteriorate. I know one volunteer said to me once the food stops she wont be able to go anymore and watch them dying, So we have to find a group big enough to supply food and we need to fill the gap until that happens. Someone on here mentioned Paul Ogrady his management declined to help a few months ago. Probably a lot of the donators on here are like us hard working people on low to average salaries. There must be someone out there who has the financial means to help these dogs. We rent a farm that is big enough to accommodate 1500 maybe more but thats a huge task needing more staff, food etc. if we were able to take 500 more from Ecosal however that means less to feed in Ecosal. Any ideas welcome. Secondly I have seen a few ill informed remarks on here which have not gone down too well on a day when our worst fears have been confirmed. They are the minority and those who are many who support us daily will also not take too kindly to people who seem set out to damage a rescue who have and are saving many lives. We all have day jobs and we all spend endless hours on this unpaid job. Without us at least 150 dogs would be dead, although are rescues spread further than this particular shelter and we have rescued more than 500. The evidence is in the clinics photos and the later photos when dogs have been nursed back to health. We welcome questions to evidence what we do, but not accusations and those three people are not welcome here. Thank you to everyone for supporting and helping even by sharing. Lindsey.
