This is unacceptable. While I know this is a result from a few individual troopers, the West Virginia State Police has lost a lot of my respect. And I really doubt it will ever return to previous levels. Fellows, you do not go around killing peoples pets. Come onto private property and shoot a dog. It was a beagle mix for crying out loud. And it wasnt mixed with a T. Rex. And for that jackass Baylous to say the troopers did what they are trained to do is just plain stupid. No investigation and he said the troopers did as trained. And notice how quick the troopers buried the dog? Thats nothing more than destruction of evidence. A vet should have been consulted to verify where the bullets entered and the direction they went to see if the dogs owner was correct and was shot as it was running away. This is a coverup, sure as anything. The first order of business is to dismiss Baylous of his duties. In other words, fire the piece of crap. And its for sure the academy needs to add how troopers are to deal with dogs. After all, mailmen deal with this millions of times a day and no dogs are shot.
