This is why you never put you baby in front of an air bag. Its also why you should not put a young child in front of one too. Please also parents when you use the lap shoulder belt with or without a booster( after age 8), please DO NOT put the shoulder belt behind their back! Yes it ma y be a little irritating rubbing their neck but the injuries they can sustain if it is not there to protect them will hurt a whole lot more. Ive seen a lot of that lately. Also remember babies must ride rear facing until they are one year old. It is tempting to turn them around early because they cry, their legs touch the seat, or its easier. I get asked this all the time. Just remember that when you turn them around all the forces of a crash are on their upper body- head and neck- and a baby has a bigger head in proportion to their body. This can result in severe, brain damaging injuries. Rear facing seats allow their whole body to absorb the crash forces and if thrown forward they meet a padded seat back.
