This is your chance to engage via the CC with Persimmon Homes and their contractor Advance Construction and Glasgow City Council Departments and ALEOs with the development in the area of Bredisholm Road. The CC has been sent diagrams today of the phased roadworks to be carried out along Bredisholm Road by James Lindsay Park. Unfortunately, we have to request permission from Persimmon Homes to reproduce their technical diagrams before we may share them with you electronically. Traffic restrictions will be in place for around 3 or 4 weeks whilst the footpath (pavement) along the JL Park is dug up, 50m at a time to allow Utilities to be installed under the road surface. The park railings will be taken away and replaced. The middle set of steps will be closed off and a new access made from the field next to the park. There seems to be a need for clarification as to this part of the plan because as it stands when the steps are re-opened you will step straight out onto a road. Residents who live facing the park will have limited parking within bays. Unfortunately, Persimmon were unaware that many of those properties are 4-in-a-block and not semis so thought that 14 bays approx would be plenty. Furthermore, in the many, many years that this development has been in the Planning Stages the majority of residents in Bredisholm Road are no longer elderly without cars, but family homes with, in some cases, several cars. Users of the park who currently drive to activities will be faced with leaving cars some distance away and children will have to cross busy roads with an increased volume of traffic. The street lighting which currently runs along both sides of Bredisholm Road will be moved so that it is on one side only - leaving the park with less light than at present, deterring people from using the park during hours of darkness. Glasgowlifes Draft Feasibility Study of September 2011 lists the facilities on offer at the Proposed New Sports Facility for Baillieston sited in JL Park - there is no mention of car parking facilities. For your views to be considered by these organisations we need you to submit your comments in writing to us at [email protected] or write to Local Councillors - James Coleman, Marie Garritty, David Turner and Austin Sheridan. Dont just grumble on here and expect a miracle - we need members of the public to participate please :)
