This morning is not good, I learned of the passing of one of the best friends Ive ever had in this world. Butch and I served together in San Diego in the mid-80s at a very dysfunctional command and his strength and professionalism was a shining example for me as a junior officer to follow. Butch was one of the kindest and most humble men I have ever known. He was always willing to help anyone and I mean anyone at any time. I used to love stopping in to see him as I passed through SD in the years afterwards. Once when out for dinner and drinks they asked us for a name for the waiting list at a restaurant and we introduced ourselves a Salt & Pepper, lot of laughs on that one. I am having difficult time holding back tears. He truly was one of the best to ever walk this earth. I will miss him dearly.
