This past Sunday we continued our Back to Basics series. It was great to see Children coming to church with their Bibles in their hands. We began by reviewing and singing our September Bible Verse, Your Word is a light for my feet and a light for my path Psalm 119:105. We continued by looking quickly at the Armor of God found in Ephesians 6. The scriptures tell us to carry the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. We think it is important to carry it physically but also carry it in our hearts and minds. We studied before how the Bible teaches us about Gods love for us and how we should also love one another but this week we looked at how scriptures and can be a sword to help us fight off the devils schemes. We read the account of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by the devil found in Matthews Gospel. We talked about how the devil will try to attack us when we are weak, and we have to stay strong to resist those temptations, and the way we fight the devil is remembering what the Word of God tells us to do. We looked at the words Jesus said to the devil and then found the scriptures he was quoting in the book of Deuteronomy. Our prayer for this lesson is for our children to lean how to use their Bibles, so they can read Gods word, and that seed would sink deep into their hearts so they can produce wonderful fruit and be able to resist temptations from the Devil.
