This raises a lot of the issues Im confronting in a current design. People love the blinky lights. And theres this idea that if something lights up to show you where to put your fingers itll be easier (and more fun) to play. I can see some of the value for people first approaching the instrument. But at some point, musicians need to transition to training their ears and not looking at their hands. So the lighting effects are the equivalent of training wheels. Seems odd to design the bike around the training wheels. I think in the end, Im probably more of a fan of the Rocksmith approach to this. If you want a visual tutor, put it on a separate display. Then its easy to remove as you dont need it.
