This rant has been weighing on me for some time...... Although I feel honored that my photos are of such quality and enjoyment that folks love posting them all over Facebook, their websites, using them in ads, and otherwise scanning, printing etc without having purchased them...there has come a time for me to no longer hold my feelings in. The last straw was when I saw an ad with one of my photos with the copyright still across the middle. Seriously??? Why do magazines, emags, state directories let this happen??? But Im sure you still got paid??? Well I didnt and spent hours and hours ring side shooting millions of photos for everyone. To those great clients who always did the right thing and always treated us with respect and covered their bases, thank you!!!! For those who continue to use our work and not respect that we to need to make a living.... You are part of the reason that next year no one will have photos and memories from every show that ICD has shot over the last 5 years. When I cant pay my bills yet my work is seen daily posted all over without rights.....theres no longer reason to suffer through this. Is it the sole reason for quiting horse shows, absolutely not, but it plays a part in the decision. Maybe if you cant afford the whole price, ask. Ive always tried to help folks where I can. And I believe Ive always tried to be fair on my prices. A simple piece of respect and sincere clients have always gone a long ways for me. It was always about money last but I still did this as a living!!!! Stop using and taking photographers for granted or soon we will all be gone!!
