This team is playing good hockey over the last four years. CWG 2010 to be precise. We were vanquished by Australia in that final. But we are slowly and surely getting close. Guangzhou was an aberration and that upset London. I didnt blame the team for London 2012. You dont buy your ticket a couple of months before an Olympics and expect to play well. The bench was still not strong. I waited for the World Cup. We played well. The results still eluded. But what warmed my heart is that now we were getting close to Australia. Twice we gave them the run for their money. Both the games could have gone any way and the end result did not tell the true story. I saw the same thing in Glasgow 2012. Again the end result did not tell the true story. That final against Australia was close. For a better part of the game now. We just need that little bit of luck. Im certain that luck is round the corner. Im looking forward to Champions Trophy at home. Its still an unticked box in my wish list. I want to see an Indian hockey team beat Australia in a major tournament in my lifetime. This team can do it. The first step was taken today. And beating Australia would be the next decisive step for Rio. I look forward to Champions Trophy. Luck is going to be with us. The bench has become strong mean while.
