This video is from my series of experiments with sound called “Sound of a Name”. The 6th century philosopher Boethius is known to have used the first fourteen letters of the classical Latin alphabet for music notation. Before Boethius the two-octave range was already known five centuries before by Ptolemy, who called it the perfect system or complete system”. While reading this I had an insight to unite the alphabet and musical notes in a certain way. I instantly knew this match will enable me to hear how the sound of a name sounds like. This is what happens when I played the name “Tina”. Doesnt that sound wonderful?! Thank you for the insight!!! Note that in all the “Sound of a Name” videos I am using the same setting of my synthesizers to follow the alphabet /musical note correlation. Even though you may think that some of the videos sound almost identically it is mainly due to the similarity of the alphabet letters of each name and it’s purely coincidental. If you like to hear the difference you can play the videos back to back and focus on the piano notes as they are played quicker than the slow drones of the synth pads. youtu.be/UPxJhgNBRMg
