This video reminds me of when Tom Delavan and I first moved to Louisiana and went to a barber shop in town because he needed a trim. We walked in and sat down. We were the only white people in the place and all the barber chairs were full but no one else was waiting. We thought, It shouldnt be too long of a wait. So we sat there for 20 minutes and no one said a word to us. The people looked at us, often, but no one approached us. Finally one of the barbers came over and politely said that there was a place down the street that could take care of us. No explanation, no nothing. I was mad. I said ok and we walked out. I thought sarcastically, Welcome to Louisiana. and then I reminded myself that not everyone is like that and instead of being angry, I should feel compassion for people who were. It was tough.
