This week we remember …… An initiative of Hunter Valley Military History to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who paid the supreme sacrifice to keep Australia free. Sunday 3rd November to Saturday 9th November 2013. No Hunter Valley soldier is recorded as dying this week in the Sudan War of 1885. No Hunter Valley naval reservist is recorded as dying this week in the Chinese Boxer Rebellion of 1900–1901. One Hunter Valley mounted infantryman is recorded as dying this week in the South African Boer War of 1899 –1902: Tpr Arthur Percy Grey, Gresford, New South Wales Citizens Bushmen, 09/11/1900 May he continue to rest in eternal peace. Thirty six Hunter Valley men are listed as dying this week during the First World War of 1914-1918. Two are recorded as dying this week in 1915; 13 in 1916; 17 in 1917 and 4 in 1918.
