This weekend has offered a few special opportunities to celebrate MLK Day! Friday evening I joined the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Committee of Gardena in their youth night. It was an amazing evening full of talent and inspiration, the highlight was recognizing Bionca Evans for winning the citys elementary school MLK essay contest. The second picture is me with the three essay contest winners and event organizers. Saturday I got to ride in Gardenas MLK Parade! Here I am in Jim Huizdos classic Model A, and then addressing the crowd after the parade. Standing on the left is parade chairwoman Paulette Francis. Sitting in the front row are former Assemblyman (and Parade Grand Marshall!) Steven Bradford, Gardena Mayor Pro Tem Tasha Cerda and City Clerk Mina Semenza. Thank you everybody!
