This will be short and sweet. You know you have a terrible trainer if they have a workout toolbox that consists of the following - 1- Every session, no matter what your goals are, are primarily made up of super sets, drop sets and circuit sets. 2- They continually talk about time under tension but make you do super slow rep tempos and holds at the top of the contraction for X seconds to squeeze the muscle. 3- They talk about getting a pump, making you train to full exhaustion and do sessions in a go go go pace. 4- They talk about doing particular rep ranges to avoid you bulking up even though you want to tone up. 5- They train you in a bodybuilding fashion (meaning a single body part) each session and youve been doing that since day one. 6- Youve never done under 6 reps in any session youve been put through nor have you been allowed to rest longer than a minute. 7- The majority of your sessions are done on cable machines. 8- They do direct abdominal work with you more than once per week. 9- They talk about range of motion but never corrected you or have showen you this full range of motion in an exercise. 10- They get you to use machines in ways that they are not designed for. I.E sitting side on in the seated chest press machine so you are pushing the lever across your body! If this is your trainer, I suggest you sack them and get a new one.
