This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 15, 2013, and will focus on the theme "Open the Door of Faith." Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. The Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis is pleased to announce the release of the 2013 Catechetical Sunday materials focused on themes from “Porta Fidei” and the Year of Faith. Catechetical Sunday, which is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in September in parishes across the United States, falls this year on the weekend of September 15, 2013, the Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time.
