Those with questions about the Christian faith, its history and how it developed into numerous denominations will find answers during a special Symposium set from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Kilgore College Devall Student Center Ballroom. The theme for the Symposium is “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism,” taken from Ephesians 4:5. The Rev. Dr. Jayson S. Galler of Kilgore’s Pilgrim Lutheran Church will make the main presentation – previously, Galler taught both New Testament history and reading and Reformation history, philosophy, theology, and literature at Concordia University Texas in Austin. Preparing for Sundays event, “In Ephesians 4:1-16 there appears to be a call to unity that requires both denying oneself and using God’s gifts in order for the Church to be the mature and perfectly functioning body of Christ, its Head,” Galler observed, noting “the various reformers throughout Church history likely thought that they were faithfully acting for the good of the Church, even though what resulted is often criticized as disunity.” Learn more at KilgoreNewsHerald
