Though this class will not go as in-depth on what Essential Oils are (please see a 101 class for more detail), Ill give a brief overview before getting into specific oils. What are essential oils? EOs are: - the volatile liquid distilled from plants - 50-70 times more powerful than herbs (so 1 *drop* of peppermint EO = about 26 *cups* of herbal peppermint tea!) - capable of so much more than helping us smell nice after a bath! Because of the concentrated nature of essential oils, any substance (chemical fertilizers, pesticides, etc) used on the soil or plants that will be used for essential oil distillation gets into the plant itself - so it is very important to research the company making your EO and really question their farming practices and whether they have control over the entire process, from cultivating the soil, to harvesting the plants, to distilling and bottling the oil.
