Thought You Would Want to Know! Great News! $100 million for homes passed both the House and the Senate this morning as part of the bonding bill and it’s heading to Governor Dayton to sign. This bill marks an investment of heroic proportion! In light of extensive housing needs throughout Minnesota, with an estimated 14,000 people homeless per night and nearly half of all renters cost-burdened, the $100 million watermark sets a new standard for future legislatures to adequately invest in housing. You, Housing Heroes, along with thousands of advocates from over 100 organizations in the Homes for All alliance, met with legislators, signed thousands of postcards and petitions, wrote letters to newspapers, and used social media to make your voices heard. As a result of your hard work, Minnesota will be able to invest in supportive housing, preservation of affordable rental properties, including public housing, and recovery for communities hit hard by foreclosures.
