Thought for the day Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. NKJV You know in this fast pace world we live in it is easy to get ahead of ourselves or in reality, really get ahead of God. When was the last time, you set and read the word of God, now I do not mean read it and be in a hurry to go somewhere or read it like you are doing your duty as a Christian. I mean set down, read it, meditate on it, and let it speak to you and your life. When was the last time you prayed and listened to God. It is kind of odd we say prayer is no more than talking to God. Well the last time I checked talking to someone usually means that there is a two way conversation. Have we gotten so busy going down this path of life that we have allowed ourselves to get ahead of the light so we trip and stumble or fall. Have we allowed what all can I accomplish come before God how can I serve. We can even be doing a good thing a noble thing. We can even be doing something for God but yet get ahead of His light. What good is feeding the hungry if you have not allowed God to feed your soul? What good is there in doing a job well if God gets no glory? What good is getting to the end of the path if you have not enjoyed the walk on the path? It is easy to be the child that runs ahead. However, when you decide to run ahead of the light and you stumble and fall who’s fault is it the light? You know I have never talked to an elderly person or someone dying and they say to me I sure do wish I would have gotten here faster. Is it possible to move so fast down the path of life that we miss what is on the path? Is it possible to try and accomplish so much that we miss the joy of what we accomplish? Now don’t get me wrong I understand the thrill is in the victory but can you really enjoy the victory without the training? I guess what I am trying to say is slow down let the word of God soak into your heart, let the Lord light your path. Take the time to not only spend with God but with love one’s, with family, with friends. Slow down walk don’t run enjoy the path to eternity. After all eternity will always be there but the trip to get there won’t be. I guess grandma knew what she was saying when she said stop and smell the roses. Ask yourself this question are you following the light or are you running ahead of it? Are you enjoying the walk or just stumbling down the path?
