Thoughts on Aging: In the last year I have had several friends pass on - And, I was just remembering when almost all public figures were older than me. But, now that I approach my 72nd birthday I realize Im older than almost all the public figures in the news each day. Its a strange feeling. Still, I think of old as being about 10 years older than I am now. I also notice that the things I cared about 40 years ago and 20 years ago seem much different than the things I care about now. Age can do that; change our perspective on life. Also, this December, Kathy and I will be married 50 years - Yes, to each other! And that seems rather amazing. Looking back, aside from our amazing daughter and a wonderful marriage, I think the most important decision Kathy and I ever made was to adopt our vegan lifestyle 29 years ago. That one decision has had a more positive impact on our lives than any other single thing. So, life is a very interesting experience - and it may seem overly simplistic or corny, but striving to expand our practice of kindness, love and compassion to ALL human and non-human beings, as well as the environment, though our practice of veganism and activism work over the years has been for us the most rewarding part of this aging experience. :-)
